“I am Yomi, Rando.” He supplied his name. “I am a friend of Suzaku’s.” Yomi motioned to the inside. “Come, sit. Let us talk. Would you like some milk?” He was doing all he could to put the younger at ease. Having since learned how delicate the red head was, the horned demon decided to take things slowly. He slowly herded Rando to a couch. “Sit.” His voice was calm, gentle. Treating Rando like a frightened little bird seemed to work.

He took small steps along the floor as Yomi ushered him along. He didn’t want to be alone with this one. He felt something sinister about it and he looked around, reaching out with his energy to see if Suzaku was nearby, or Shishi, or the big white fox. Any of them could be an asset to him at this point.

He found himself nodding at the other “Milk…I would like…..” He trailed off. The milk had reminded him of something but he couldn’t put two and two together. Since when had he come to the temple? “You are Suzaku’s friend?” Then he was safe. Suzaku’s friend’s would be his allies. He would be safe here.

“Yes, we are…friends.” Yomi said soothingly. “Sit, I will bring you some milk.” He turned and slowly made his way to the kitchen. It didn’t take him long to acquire the glass of bovine lactation. Re-entering the living room, he handed off the glass to Rando and took a seat on one end of the couch. He patted the seat next to him. “You are safe here, Rando. I will not harm you.”

Rando sat on the couch and his fingers found themselves busily running against the upholstery as if keeping his mind busy with sensory details instead of attempting to working out the complicated word jumble in his mind. The tall man Yomi entered into the room, almost seeming to glide. it was nearly impossible to see the man’s body beneath his robes and it made Rando’s skin crawl. What was underneath it?

Cautiously he took the milk to his lips and took a cool sip, the liquid was refreshing to his palette. Yomi gestured him over like one might a small child or a dog, and Rando slowly obliged, taking small steps towards Yomi and sitting beside the other, staring away into the opposite side of the room. Suzaku told him to meet him here didn’t he? He should be here soon. Yomi was friends with Suzaku.

Yomi was pleased that Rando seemed to be calming down. He kept his movements slow and deliberate, his voice steady and calm, and he made sure the younger demon could see his hands at all times. “Rando, I would like to help you.” the horned demon laid his hands on his lap palm up. “Perhaps I may help you chase away those shadows that bother you.” He added softly. “I wish to be your friend, as well.” Yomi’s patience was near infinite when he needed it to be. “Tell me, Rando. What do you want?”

The shifter narrowed his eyes at the other. The tall one knew his name. He shifted under the palm of the other. Though he didn’t he sense any immediate danger from the other there was a bell ringing somewhere in his mind. Though he wrote it off as the power difference between the two. He could tell Yomi was far more powerful than he was as a meager C+ class demon. He shrugged out from the other’s reach. “I am permitted.” was his only answer. He decided to leave but he found his feet planted in place.

Suzaku had gone out. Rando wasn’t sure where. He could only assume it was to the temple, that’s where they always went…right? He began to feel that he was alone. That the house wasn’t his friend either. The lavish furniture seemed to move with him and caused him to jump in the silence of the empty rooms. He left to find Suzaku.

Arriving at the temple stairs he forgot why he had left in the first place, only that he was here now, and that he was probably going to meet someone. He slid back the door to enter the main room where demons and humans often congregated and was met once again with an empty room. The shadows in the corners were suspicious and he turned away to leave when he stumbled into the tall goat man. Though he couldn’t remember his name or why his body told him to run he stared at the other rumbling through his fuzzy head trying to remember why he should be so cautious.

The empty temple was boring, Yomi had decided. He had become accustomed to others around. As a last resort, he was fallen to exploring every niche of the large temple. This had kept him occupied for quite some time. Hours into his exploration, his heightened hearing alerted him to a demon approaching. The gait was one he had only began to learn. Much to his pleasure it was the young shifter. Knowing Rando’s skittish nature, Yomi stayed out of sight until Rando had entered the common room. Then, he positioned himself between the door and the other demon. He smiled slightly when the younger demon walked into him. “Hello Rando.” the elder said smoothly. Placing a hand on the shoulder of the shorter demon to calm him. “What are you doing here alone?” Yomi asked.

“Yomi. What are you doing?”

“Testing your height.”

“I don’t believe you.”

“Believe what you will. You always have.”

“You’ve never given me reason to believe otherwise.”

“I rarely reveal my true intentions, Kurama. You know this very well. You are the only person who can deduce with the best accuracy what I intend.”
